I’m a huge fan of Sony’s editing software. Sony has always been a leader in electronics. They are now carrying that tradition into the field of video editing. Video editing programs give you the ability to download video from your camera to your computer, whittle away extraneous video material and spice up your home videos with music, graphics and photographs leaving you with a nicely edited video.
There are dozens of video editing programs. To help you with making a selection, I’ve highlighted the two editing programs that I’m confident will serve you well. I have to say that I'm disappointed that I can only give you two recommendations for video editing software, I always try to have a minimum of three recommendations. In the past I've included Pinnacle Studio in my list of recommendations; unfortunately, their current release, release 11, just seems to be plagued with problems. Don't despair! The two programs listed are exceptional and I'm confident that they will meet all of your editing needs!
Though there are free software programs available such as Microsoft's Movie Maker; I strongly urge you to make a modest investment in one of the video editing programs listed below. You certainly can't argue with the price of the freebies, however, I think you will quickly outgrow the programs and find yourself frustrated with their limitations.
Each manufacturer lists minimum computer requirements. These are minimum requirements. Video takes up huge amounts of memory and editing takes lots of processing power. To help insure trouble free, crash free editing; make sure you exceed the minimum requirements. If you are about to purchase a computer and are unsure whether it is up to snuff; tell your sales person that you are looking for a computer suitable for home video editing.
